The APC USB cable (AP9827) is not an Ethernet cable, but rather a USB cable with a similar plug to Ethernet that connects to APC USB devices. It is not suitable for connecting a printer to a laptop. To connect a printer and laptop, it is recommended to use a router to create a private network. The cable is 6 feet long, but can potentially be extended using a USB extension cable. It is compatible with APC UPS units that have an RJ45 connection and USB connection on the computer. It is also compatible with the APC BACK-UPS XS 1300 (model number BX1300LCD). However, for firmware upgrades and advanced configuration, the 940-0024 series of smart signaling cables is recommended.
