Monographs Editorial Review
The "Bruegel. The Complete Works" book is a masterpiece for any art lover and especially for fans of Pieter Bruegel. This large, well-made hardcover book is a true work of art in itself. The publishers, Taschen, have once again delivered on their reputation for producing high-quality art books. The text in the book is fantastic, providing insightful information about Bruegel and his works. However, it is the illustrations and details that truly steal the show. The reproductions of Bruegel's paintings are breathtaking and one can appreciate the finer details in his work with the help of close-up shots provided by the authors. One of the standout features of this book is its size. Being a giant folio measuring about 15" high and weighing around 20 pounds, it truly showcases the grandeur of Bruegel's art. The book's large format allows for a better appreciation of the scale and intricacy of the paintings. While the text is not the main reason to purchase this book, it still provides valuable insights. It is recommended to read a more in-depth art theory book on a Kindle if that is a priority. However, the true value of this book lies in the unparalleled quality and size of the reproductions. Viewing the paintings in this physical form significantly enhances the experience compared to viewing them on a backlit screen. Despite its significant price, this book is well worth the investment for any Bruegel enthusiast. Its beauty and the opportunity to own such high-quality reproductions of Bruegel's works make it an essential addition to any art collection.
