The JET JOSS-S Oscillating Spindle Sander is a 1 horsepower, 1 phase, 115-volt sander that is highly recommended for small woodworking shops and hobbyists. It has a 9-inch sanding drum and can accommodate spindles of different diameters, with the largest spindle being 4 inches. The table height is 39-3/16 inches. The sander has received mixed reviews, with some users reporting that the table has a noticeable lean to the right, which can cause the trunnion to slide off. The guide block is stamped light gauge sheet-metal, and there is nothing holding it onto the trunnion. There are also no guides to prevent the table from simply bending out and dropping down. However, the machine has a massive cast iron table and offers convenient storage for accessories. The large protruding knobs that control the tilt lock of the table are easy to access. The dust collection is good, and the spindles seem easy to remove. Nevertheless, some users found it difficult to swap spindles due to the difficulty in accessing the spindle lock and nuts. Additionally, the included wrench is of poor quality, and the magnet provided to make the wrench easily accessible is not strong enough to hold the very flimsy light stamped steel wrench.
