It does not require cleaning the roller before putting it in the tube, and the wet paint should rinse out easily. The design is large enough to fit a thick nap 9 inch. However, some customers have had issues with the lid staying closed and the roller cover popping out of the tube when they pull the roller handle. If you want to use this product for storing other items than rollers, you need to take the roller off of the frame before placing it in the Roller Keeper.
